10000 BC: a Cold World, a Cold Movie

"A prehistoric epic that follows a young mammoth hunter named D'Leh's journey through uncharted territory to secure the future of his tribe. When a band of mysterious horse-riding warlords raid the Yaghal camp and kidnaps his heart's desire - the beautiful Evolet along with many others, D'Leh is forced to lead a small group of hunters south to pursue the warlords to the end of the world to save her. Driven by destiny, the unlikely band of warriors must battle saber-toothed cats and terror birds in the Levant." (www.imdb.com)

The poster of this movie mentioned: from the director of "Independence Day and the Day After Tomorrow". And I think, this time the director wants a big movie with massive story. However, the story is rather cliche with a very straight story: a weak hero with several improvement after years against a great evil, and he finally won the battle, and he won the lady, and they live hapilly ever after. The motive we see in every classic kungfu movie. Not very right in every detail of the history, but superb visual effect, gorgeus filming locations, and cute Evolet (although not very impressive acting). It's Stargate type movie, you don't need to be very serious about the history. Nice movie to go with your teenage boys. But I still feel this is a cold movie.
